This beautiful endemic tree has dainty white petals and a complex, bright red center on their large flowers. These ephemeral flowers last only a day, blooming early in the morning and losing their petals throughout the day and finally closing up by nightfall. The sepals ball up around the carpels, which eventually turn into lovely little bright green balls of fruit that contain, sour-sweet segments in an interesting swirly arrangement. The katmon tree has been recorded to naturally grow only in the Philippines and nowhere else in the world. They do well in pots, and in the wild, I have seen a tree at the foot of Mt. Banahaw that's perhaps 30 feet tall! This particular branch on this painting was from a tree grown for conservation at the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
The original watercolor artwork was done on 12" x 9" cotton paper and finished in 2019. You will be getting an archival reproduction, professionally recreated using 100% cotton paper and pigment inks, it will last as long* as the original work.

The complimentary picture frame allows convenient presentation for giving the prints as a gift. It has a plastic front protection that makes the frame safer for shipping and for display in high-traffic areas or children's rooms. You can easily swap out for your preferred frame but it's also presentable enough to keep.
